Investment scam leaves victim with over RM2mil in losses


SELANGOR: An investment scam has left a single victim with losses amounting to over RM2mil

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, in a statement on Tuesday (March 25), said the 52-year-old victim lost RM2.08mil after joining an investment group via Facebook.

"The victim was added to a WhatsApp group called 'Charles Portfolio Strategy Center', run by someone named Charles," he said.

He added that the victim was instructed to make nine deposits totalling RM2.08mil into nine different bank accounts for 'investment' purposes.

The victim realised he had been scammed after being asked to pay various fees to withdraw his profits.

Comm Hussein urged everyone to remain vigilant and not fall for schemes promising unrealistic returns.
