Floods: Sarawak fully recovers, last two relief centres closed


SIBU: Sarawak has fully recovered from floods following the closure of the last two temporary relief centres at the Sibu Jaya Community Hall and Kanowit Sports Complex Hall in Sibu Division on Monday (March 24) evening.

The State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said the Sibu Jaya Community Hall, which housed 25 victims, was closed at 1pm, while the Kanowit Sports Complex Hall, which sheltered 185 victims, ceased operations at 5pm after all evacuees were allowed to return home.

Earlier, the relief centres at Asrama Belia Kapit and Dewan Suarah Kapit were closed at 9am, followed by the Selangau Multipurpose Hall at noon. - Bernama
