Cops intensify manhunt for last two members of robbery gang

SHAH ALAM: The police are still searching for the last two suspects of a robbery gang, of which three members were shot dead in Sepang on March 14.

Selangor police chief, Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, stated that the police are continuing to work diligently to track them down and ultimately apprehend them.

"These two were believed to be foreigners. We have mobilised all our resources to apprehend them as soon as possible.

"At the same time, we are also investigating the gang further and the extent of the crimes," he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters on Monday (March 24).

It was previously reported that three foreign robbers were gunned down after they attacked a team of policemen at Desa Vista, Sepang, on Friday (March 21).

Bukit Aman deputy Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Deputy Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus had said three foreign robbers were responsible for 17 robberies and house break-ins, resulting in almost RM1mil in losses since early 2024.

The suspects, armed with machetes, attacked the CID team before they were shot.

The incident occurred after they had broken into a house, and their actions were captured on video CCTV.

Based on CCTV footage, the suspects were seen entering the house through the back fence at about 1.41am.

However, all four of them fled the scene once the alarm was triggered after barely a minute of them being at the residence.

The suspects were recorded escaping through the same back fence before three hid in the nearby woods.

"The prompt action was based on information from the house owner. The victim acted fast in contacting the police after seeing the masked and armed robbers entering his home.

"A CID team took decisive action in hunting down the suspects before cornering them in the woods near a water tank," he said.
