PETALING JAYA: With floods affecting close to 5,000 individuals in Johor alone, help is coming from all around to ensure that the wellbeing of victims is being taken care of.
Ayer Hitam MP Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong is among those on the ground to assist flood victims.
On Sunday (March 23), the MCA president visited the flood relief centre in SMK Suria Perdana, Ayer Hitam which is currently housing 311 flood victims from 91 families.
The victims are from Kampung Parit Haji Hamid, Kampung Semarang, Kampung Parit Nipah, Kampung Seri Paya, Kampung Lapis Semarang, Kampung Parit Salleh Khairon, Kampung Bukit Kuari, and Kampung Parit Londang.
It began operating on Friday (March 21) night.
“Yesterday evening, Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon and my special assistant Yu Yong Ming visited the flood victims and distributed essential items such as clothing to them.
“Today, together with Ling, I handed over pillows to the flood victims there,” Dr Wee said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
Dr Wee also prayed that all flood victims are able to return home as soon as possible.
“Thank you to everyone, including individuals, relevant agencies, and volunteers, who have worked tirelessly to assist the flood victims and ensure their safety and well-being,” he said.
As of 4pm Sunday, some 5,837 individuals across Johor, Sabah and Sarawak have been displaced by the floods.
There are 4,597 victims in Johor, 936 in Sarawak and 304 in Sabah.
