Investigation on man who allegedly slapped seven-year-old boy forwarded to DPP, say cops

JOHOR BARU: The police investigation into a case where a man allegedly slapped a seven-year-old boy has been completed and forwarded to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's office.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the Year One pupil, who resides at a shelter home on Jalan Abdul Samad, hit his head against a wall and sustained a minor injury but is in stable condition.

"The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

"We have recorded the statement of the man involved, and the investigation papers have been handed over to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's office. We are now awaiting further instructions," he said on Saturday (March 22).

ACP Raub said several individuals were called to assist in the investigation.

"So far, only one police report has been lodged and we initiated investigations based on that report," he added.
