Crocodile sighted at Tanjung Aru beach, public urged to stay alert


KOTA KINABALU: A crocodile has been sighted at Tanjung Aru beach, prompting authorities to urge the public to spread the alert.

The Kota Kinabalu Civil Defence Department shared on their Facebook page about the reptile, stating they received information from the public at around 8.15am on Sunday (March 16).

"The beach rescue tower officials received information about a crocodile seen in the sea at around 8.15am," the post said.

"Beach personnel immediately raised red flags to alert the public and warn them against going for sea or water activities following the sighting," it added.

It mentioned that beach rescue personnel are keeping a close watch on the matter and are conducting patrols from time to time.

"Please share this information to prevent untoward incidents," the post stated.

The Sabah Wildlife Department has been informed of the situation as well.
