City council removes metal structure from overhead bridge in Buntong for safety

IPOH: A metal structure that had partially come off an overhead bridge in Buntong nearly two years ago was removed as a safety precaution by the Ipoh City Council, says Buntong assemblyman M. Thulsi.

“We have already conducted our safety check with the council.

“When the structure partially came off two years ago, my team consulted the council, and the experts decided that it was better to remove the entire structure.

“We have applied for allocation to upgrade the belly bridge, but the cost is high, and we need to wait,” she said when contacted on Sunday (March 16).

A video of the metal structure being removed while heavy vehicles passed was posted online.

The person who posted it said a disaster could occur if the bridge collapsed and urged people to be alert and careful.

Thulsi said the situation was not as dangerous as depicted in the video, and she had alerted the council to conduct regular checks.
