Penang’s Industrial Court to hear PERKESO appeal cases, says minister

GEORGE TOWN: The Industrial Court in Penang will have a third courtroom dedicated to hearing Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) appeal cases, says Steven Sim.

The Human Resources minister said currently those who want to appeal PERKESO cases will have to go to Kuala Lumpur.

“We are working on making it a One Stop Labour Service Centre, where workers and employers can resolve issues in one place, instead of going to different government agencies at various locations,” he said when speaking to the press after officiating the newly upgraded State Human Resources Ministry's building along Weld Quay here in George Town on Friday (March 14).

Sim said with this new facility, Penang residents will no longer need to travel to Kuala Lumpur or other states for their PERKESO appeal hearings.

He said the newly upgraded building currently has two courtrooms used for Industrial Court cases.

"Another courtroom will be added to handle the PERKESO’s appeal tribunal cases soon.

"This is to ensure that in the future, cases from claimants in Kedah, Perlis, and Penang can be heard here," he said.
