P-hailing rider claims trial to hurting 4yo son with knife


KUALA LUMPUR: A food delivery rider who allegedly hurt his four-year-old son with a knife pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here on Friday (March 14) to a charge of voluntarily causing hurt.

The 30-year-old man is alleged to have slapped the child's cheeks and injured his left thumb with a knife at an apartment on  Jalan Jelatek Keramat here at 7.20pm on Wednesday (March 12).

The charge, framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means, provides for up to 10 years' jail, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of these punishments if found guilty.

Judge Izralizam Sanusi allowed the man bail of RM8,000 with one surety and also ordered him to report to a police station once a month and not to disturb the victim.

The judge also set April 23 for mention for appointment of a cousel.
