JB police detain 28 for traffic offences over weekend


JOHOR BARU: Some twenty-eight individuals – all locals aged between 24 and 70, were detained during the three-day Ops Mabuk Khas.

Johor Police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the suspects were apprehended in all districts under the Johor police contingent’s jurisdiction from March 7 to 9.

“We also issued 482 police summonses to them for various traffic-related offences,’’ he said in a statement Monday (March 10).

Comm Kumar said the summonses were 67 for causing traffic disruptions, 68 for failing to adhere to standard plate number specifications, running traffic lights at 79 and 268 for miscellaneous offences.

“Johor police will continue to conduct the operation from time to time to educate the public to obey traffic rules and regulations,’’ he added.

Comm Kumar said the offences are being investigated under Section 45A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
