Student killed in crash in Kuala Terengganu


KUALA TERENGGANU: A tahfiz student riding home after performing Tarawih prayers was killed after being hit by another motorcycle on Jalan Kampung Pengadang Baru here on Thursday (March 6) night.

Kuala Terengganu OCPD Asst Comm Azli Mohd Noor said they were informed about the crash at 10.45pm.

The crash was believed to have occurred when the victim, a 19-year-old from Marang, emerged from a junction, he said in a statement on Friday (March 7).

He said the other motorcyclist, a 21-year-old man, was unable to brake in time and hit the victim.

ACP Azli added that the victim died at the scene and his body was sent to Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for a post-mortem, while the other man sustained serious injuries and was sent to the same hospital for treatment. – Bernama
