KUALA LUMPUR: An illegal foreign worker agency was dismantled with the arrests of six foreigners, Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban announced.
The operation took place at Taman Kemuning Utama, Shah Alam, Taman Pandan Cahaya, Ampang, and Jalan Datuk Eusoff, Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday (March 5) following three weeks of intelligence gathering.
"Five Bangladeshi men, including the agency's leader, were detained along with a Pakistani man, aged between 30 and 50," he said in a statement on Thursday (March 6).
Three of the suspects committed various offences, including overstaying, violating pass conditions, and not having any travel documents.
"The raiding team also seized 394 Bangladeshi passports, six Indonesian passports, two Indian passports, nine Pakistani passports, a Philippines passport, as well as three mobile phones, RM12,550 in cash, and a car," he added.
The illegal agency supplied foreign workers to employers that have been blacklisted, Zakaria explained.
"The employers would be charged RM8,000 per foreign worker. The agency also offered services to extend PLKS, priced between RM4,000 and RM6,000," he said.
All those detained were brought to the Immigration office in Putrajaya for further investigation.
