KL cops bust major drug syndicate selling processed vape liquids

KUALA LUMPUR: A syndicate that processes drugs and sells them in the form of vape liquid was busted, with over RM11mil worth of drugs seized following raids in the city.

Each vape liquid cartridge is priced at RM250.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said three local men and a woman were detained in the raids conducted on Feb 26 in Jalan Gombak, Taman Kuchai Jaya, Taman Sungai Besi, and Taman Salak Jaya.

"Among those detained were a 35-year-old male chemist and other syndicate members who were assigned to transport the drugs.

"We seized 62.64kg of ecstasy pills, 20.78kg of syabu, 5.23kg of ketamine, 1.15kg of erimin 5 pills and 214 units of vape cartridges.

"The drugs are worth RM11.53mil," he told a press conference at the KL police headquarters on Tuesday (March 4).

The chemist detained had 13 prior records for drug-related offences, and he also tested positive for amphetamine, he said.

"We believe the syndicate processed a mixture of various drugs into vape liquid before selling it.

"They used homestays in the city to store the drugs and luxury condominiums to process the drugs," he said.

Investigation showed the syndicate has been active since early January, Comm Rusdi said.

"The drugs came from a neighbouring country and are meant for distribution in the Klang Valley.

"The drugs seized could have been supplied to 116,000 drug users," he said.
