Doctor nabbed for allegedly outraging modesty of patient released on police bail

GEORGE TOWN: The medical officer who was arrested for allegedly outraging the modesty of a female patient at a public hospital here has been released on police bail on Sunday (March 2).

George Town Deputy OCPD Supt Lee Swee Sake said despite the release, the police are still investigating the case.

"We are referring the investigation paper to Bukit Aman first," he said.

The 43-year-old suspect was arrested on Wednesday (Feb 26) after a police report was filed by the victim.

The doctor had allegedly convinced a 21-year-old female patient to undress under the pretence of performing heart checks, without a female nurse present.

He reportedly recorded her using his mobile phone before hospital management staff barged into the room and found video recordings of her on his phone.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting modesty and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
