Cops’ swift action foils warehouse robbery

IPOH: A prompt police response thwarted an attempted robbery at a vehicle warehouse in Jelapang, resulting in four arrests.

Acting police OCPD Supt Mohamad Sajidan Abdul Sukor said the suspects, aged between 25 and 50, were arrested on Friday at about 4am, and they were each found to have a criminal record.

“We received a report from the premises supervisor about the incident.

“Swift action by the police led to their arrests,” he said in a statement yesterday.

“We also seized equipment, which included four cutters, a manhole opener, cables, gloves, a remote control and a four-wheel drive vehicle.

“The first suspect has a criminal record of 13 offences, with seven related to drugs.

“The second suspect has a criminal record of eight offences, the third has eight, and the fourth has 12,” he said, adding that the records also include drug-related offences.

Supt Mohamad Sajidan said the police have obtained a court order to remand the suspects until March 5 to facilitate an investigation under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.

“Police are urging the public to come forward with any information related to criminal activity,” Mohamad Sajidan said.

“Tips can be relayed to the district police at 05-254 2222 or to the nearest police station.”
