Second WWII bomb to be detonated tomorrow, say Papar cops

KOTA KINABALU: The World War II-era bomb, which was discovered at a construction site in Kinarut near here, is expected to be detonated at 10am on Sunday (March 2).

Papar police issued a notice on its Facebook page informing the public about this matter and provided instructions for nearby residents.

For those living less than or around 1km radius from the site, they are advised to leave the area and bring their valuables with them until all denotation exercises have been completed.

Residents are urged to lock their windows, doors and gates when leaving their residence and properties, and to place breakables on the floor.

Several roads within the vicinity will be closed to make way for detonation works, so the public are urged to use alternative routes.

All are advised to keep calm, listen to instructions and to not do anything that could disrupt the overall operation for the safety of all.

This is the second bomb found in the area with the first bomb discovered on Feb 25, and detonated a day later.
