Rajeswari appointed National Wage Negotiation Council deputy chairman

PUTRAJAYA: Former Industrial Court chairman Rajeswari Karupiah has been appointed as National Wage Negotiation Council (MPGN) deputy chairman from Feb 1, 2025 to Sept 30, 2026.

The Human Resources Ministry said in a statement Thursday (Feb 13) that Rajeswari has over 32 years of expertise in industrial relations law, employment law and corporate law.

She holds an LLB (Hons) academic qualification from the University of London and is an MCIArb Accredited Mediator.

"Throughout her career as the Industrial Court chairman, she played a crucial role in resolving outstanding cases exceeding even the stipulated KPI (key performance indicator) targets.

"She solved over 500 cases involving dismissals, restructuring, retrenchments and collective agreement negotiations,” the ministry said.

The ministry added that Rajeswari had also served with The World Bank in Washington D.C. as a legal advisor, besides being involved in improving Malaysia’s labour policies, including introducing the minimum wage policy for workers in Malaysia.

"With her deep expertise in industrial relations, policy formulation and corporate governance, Rajeswari is a strategic asset in ensuring a strong legal direction, policy innovation and a balance between the interests of workers and employers in line with the country's economic development objectives," it added. - Bernama
