Anwar, Qatari PM discuss Gaza updates

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a phone call late last night from his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed Abdulrahman Al-Thani, regarding the latest situation in Gaza.

He posted on Facebook that among the things discussed during the phone call was the deliberate violation of ceasefire terms by the Israeli regime to undermine the agreement brokered by Qatar, Egypt and the United States.

“I also praised the tireless efforts made by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed to immediately halt the atrocities by the Zionist regime against the people of Gaza and achieve lasting peace.

“I reiterated Malaysia’s continuous commitment to steadfastly supporting every initiative, including providing humanitarian aid while aiming to end Israeli occupation in Gaza,” he wrote,

Bernama reported.Yesterday, a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was on an official visit to Malaysia, Anwar emphasised that Malaysia would continue its efforts to support Palestine but warned against superficial diplomatic manoeuvres that fail to address the root cause of the conflict.
