IPOH: The tiger trap set up by the Perak Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) in Kampung Kolam, Tanjung Rambutan on Jan 21 will remain, even though the predatory animal has reportedly returned to the Bukit Kinta Forest Reserve.
Perhilitan Perak director Yusoff Shariff said that regular monitoring would continue to be conducted by Perhilitan officers to ensure no untoward incidents occur, particularly involving attacks on livestock by predatory animals.
"Although there have been no complaints or reports from residents, we do not want to take any risks. Therefore, the special trap will remain at the location for precautionary measures until there is no further threat," he said when contacted by Bernama on Wednesday (Feb 12).
On Jan 21, Perhilitan Perak said that in addition to the special trap, a camera had also been installed to monitor a predator, which had attacked cattle belonging to villagers on Jan 17.
Yusoff advised villagers to stay cautious and limit solo activities near farms or livestock pens. He also urged them to keep animals in pens and report any new tracks or signs to Perhilitan. – Bernama
