Soldier denies sexually assaulting girl, eight


MELAKA: An army sergeant claimed trial in the Session’s Court in Ayer Keroh to two charges of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl.

The plea of the 30-year-old accused was recorded before judge Hederiah Siri yesterday.

For the first charge, under Section 14(A) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, the accused is alleged to have sexually assaulted the victim by committing despicable acts.

For the second charge, under Section 377C of the Penal Code, the soldier is accused of committed an unnatural act by inserting his genitals into the victim’s mouth without her consent.

Both the offences were allegedly committed at a home here at 8.21am on Jan 30.

The court granted bail of RM20,000 and ordered additional conditions that the accused refrain from contacting the victim and must report to the nearest police station once a month until the end of the court case.

It also fixed March 6 for next mention.
