SHAH ALAM: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) only permits the sale of fireworks and firecrackers at four Ramadan bazaars under its administration throughout this year’s fasting month.
Shah Alam Mayor Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim said a total of 20 licences have been issued for this purpose, involving bazaars in Sections 13, 17, 19 and 20.
"Five licences have been issued for each bazaar, and vendors are only allowed to operate in designated areas approved by MBSA,” he told reporters after attending a public dialogue session on flood mitigation plans for Setia Alam on Wednesday (Feb 5).
He said this following the decision by Ipoh City Council to prohibit the sale of firecrackers and fireworks at all Ramadan bazaars under its jurisdiction this year, citing public safety concerns.
Meanwhile, Mohd Fauzi confirmed that the Shah Alam Stadium Ramadan bazaar would operate as usual throughout the fasting month, including in the stadium’s parking area.
He assured that despite the ongoing demolition of Shah Alam Stadium, there are no safety risks for traders and visitors related to the dismantling process of the stadium.
"The bazaar will be opened as usual and the number of traders on our list this year remains the same as in previous years,” he added. – Bernama
