Thai suspects in police officer's death may not be in Malaysia, says IGP

PETALING JAYA: The two suspects that killed a Thai police officer and his son in the Narathiwat province in Thailand might not be in Malaysia despite claims from previous reports, says the Inspector-General of Police.

Tan Sri Razarudin Husain (pic), at an Ops Selamat appreciation ceremony, said that their Thai counterparts have not contacted them for any requests to assist in the investigation.

“We have not gotten anything from Thailand yet. No requests.

“However, we are acting on media reports. We do not want any such criminals to enter Malaysia,” he said adding that it was also possible that they had not entered the country as well.

Previously it was reported that the police officer and his son were killed in an ambush on Jan 14.

Reports quoting a Thai police spokesperson said that the suspects were identified as Abdullah Samok, 30, from Rueso district, and Abdullah Bulat, 40, from Chanae district.

In an unrelated matter, ongoing operations by the police around the Sungai Golok area have led to seizures of RM400,000 in smuggled subsidised goods in the last two months.
