He said this was a drop of 154 cases, compared to last year's operation which recorded 891 cases, also over a six-day period.

"There were seven incidents with eight fatalities.

"There were also three accidents that resulted in serious injuries, 20 cases with light injuries and 707 incidents that only involved damage to vehicles," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 4).

"A total of 922 cars were involved in the accidents, while six motorcycles were involved in fatal crashes," he added.

DCP Zulkafli also said 7,746 summonses were issued during the operation involving six primary offences: speeding, driving on the emergency lane, overtaking on the double line, cutting queues, running red lights, and using telecommunications devices while driving.

"We wish to remind the people to always drive safely and courteously to prevent accidents," he added.
