More than 3,000 visitors throng CNY open house hosted by Dr Wee, Yong Peng assemblyman

YONG PENG: More than 3,000 people made their way to the Chinese New Year open house hosted by MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and the party's youth chief Ling Tian Soon here on Saturday (Feb 1).

Dr Wee said that he and Ling, who is also Yong Peng assemblyman, were happy to see the huge turnout and hoped to see such overwhelming response in future festive celebrations.

"In the past, we did it near our MCA office, but this year, we are having our Chinese New Year open house here (in Taman Kota) instead.

"I am glad to see such a good turnout and I hope that we can see more people at other festivals as well," said Dr Wee, who is also Ayer Hitam MP.

Dr Wee said this during the Ayer Hitam and Yong Peng Chinese New Year celebration here on Saturday night.

He also thanked the volunteers who have worked to make the festive event here a success.

"I must thank all the committee members who spent so much time decorating this venue.

"Ah Soon (Ling) and I are very touched by the initiative of the local people.

"We are honoured to have very committed volunteers who are helping us," he said.

Also present were Semarang assemblyman Datuk Samsolbari Jamali and Mahkota assemblyman Syed Hussien.
