Let police investigate, says Dr Wee on police report against MCA member

YONG PENG: Let police carry out their investigation, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong in response to a police report lodged against an MCA member.

The MCA president said he was aware of the report filed by Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) against the member over a social media post recently.

"I do not understand what the report is about, but since a police report has been made, we will leave it to the authorities to investigate.

"For me, he must take responsibility for what he interpreted and reported to the police," he told reporters when met at the Ayer Hitam and Yong Peng Chinese New Year celebration here.

Dr Wee was responding to a question regarding an allegedly sensitive social media post by the MCA member.

On Friday (Jan 31), AMK Batu vice-division chief Rozan Azen lodged a police report at the Sentul police station against the MCA member, who is also a local councillor in Pasir Gudang, over a social media post that allegedly incited racial and religious tension.

In response to the allegations, the MCA member explained that it was a misunderstanding, as the original post, written in Mandarin, suggests a different meaning when directly translated into Malay.
