Amanah to mobilise members nationwide to lodge police reports over Sanusi's claims, says sec-gen

PETALING JAYA: Amanah, through its mobilisation bureau, will initiate police reports across the country to prompt investigations into PAS, says Faiz Fadzil.

The Amanah secretary-general claimed that PAS is perpetuating a culture of defamation and incitement, which it claims poses a grave threat to national stability.

Faiz said the move comes in response to claims made by Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor at the "Himpunan Ummah Selamatkan Malaysia" event on Jan 31.

Sanusi had alleged that Amanah was established by the DAP, a claim Faiz categorically refuted.

“Amanah, through its mobilisation bureau, will initiate police reports nationwide to facilitate investigations into PAS.

“I emphasise that Amanah was not founded to oppose PAS, nor was its formation influenced by any party, including DAP, as has often been falsely alleged by PAS,” Faiz said in a statement Saturday (Feb 1).

He said Amanah was established following calls from former PAS members and civil society representatives who sought a more progressive and moderate Islamic movement.

“Amanah is not PAS 2.0. We will continue to uphold political values and principles. It is for this reason that the culture of slander and religious manipulation propagated by PAS must be corrected.

“Defamation in the name of religion and race can lead to extremism, and one of Amanah’s responsibilities is to safeguard Muslims and Malaysians from being deceived by cheap political games,” he said.
