Foreign worker killed in 8m fall at Ipoh construction site


IPOH: A 43-year-old foreign worker died after falling from an 8m steel frame on the construction site of the PERKESO building in Bandar Meru Raya here.

A spokesman for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department said a distress call was received at 9.06am on Monday (Jan 27).

He said firemen arrived five minutes later and found the victim, a Bangladeshi, unconscious.

“Before we arrived, other workers had brought him to an open area to (render assistance).

“Our operations chief then directed the rescue team to provide CPR to the victim," he said in a statement.

However, he said the victim was then pronounced dead and the man's body was handed over to police for further action.
