KLANG: Likes on TikTok will not guarantee youth votes for your party, says a Parti Amanah Nasional youth leader.
Party women wing (Wardah) chief Masturah Abu Bakar said that more was needed to be done to get the young people to vote for the party as they were not well informed on the doctrines of the party.
“Our children are not guaranteed to vote for us. Gen Z and Alpha are highly interested in politics but that does not mean that they will vote for us just like that, only because we have posted on TikTok. They are also highly uninformed.
“The leaders must realise that we the youths cannot carry the weight of the party on our own and this is why the youths must all come together,” said Masturah.
She said this in her conclusion speech at the Amanah Convention 2024 held at a hotel here on Sunday (Jan 26).
The delayed Amanah Convention 2024 is a three-day event, ending on Sunday.
Amanah Youth chief Mohd Hasbie Muda said in his conclusion speech that Amanah should make use of the political appointments in the ministries held by Amanah leaders.
“Amanah ministers should control the ministries that they are in charge of. We have political power but we need to use it by making full use of the political appointments,” said Hasbie, not explaining how he intends for that to pan out.
Currently, the Health Ministry and the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry are under MPs from Amanah.
