Dr Wee says AI-generated video of him promoting investment scheme making its rounds

PETALING JAYA: A video of Datuk Dr Seri Wee Ka Siong supposedly promoting investment schemes is making its rounds, which he denies ever making.

The MCA president said the video was generated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

"I have discovered that in the past week, unscrupulous individuals have been misusing AI technology to forge my image and voice, spreading fake investment videos online to deceive the public into participating in investments," he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Jan 23).

"I have never been involved in any form of investment projects, nor have I ever authorised anyone to carry out any investment activities in my name.

"I urge everyone to stay vigilant against AI deepfake scams and I strongly encourage victims to report (any incident) to the police immediately!" he said.
