AN annual special permit costing RM200 has been introduced to regulate busking in Kuala Terengganu and Kuala Nerus, Sinar Harian reported.
Kuala Terengganu mayor Datuk Rosli Latif said the permit, which is required for all active buskers, is aimed at regulating the increasingly vibrant activity.
Rosli said the move was introduced as there were no clear guidelines for street performances in Terengganu.
“Guidelines will also be submitted to the state government for consideration to amend the Entertainment and Entertainment Venues Enactment 2002 and the Terengganu Entertainment Regulations 2003,” he said.
Rosli said performances must also adhere to state government guidelines, including restrictions involving women and a prohibition against performing on Thursday nights.
“Any violations will result in legal action, including a maximum fine of RM25,000.”
