Warisan needs formidable numbers to form state govt, says Shafie

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan does not want to waste time and effort placing candidates in areas they cannot win in the upcoming Sabah state election, says Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

“We must have formidable numbers because we want to form the government,” the party president said when asked about how many areas Warisan plans to contest.

The Senallang assemblyman and Semporna MP said Warisan has ample choices of candidates but no room for opportunistic individuals.

“We do not want those who only know how to ask for projects here and there and jump from one party to another when they do not get what they want,” said Shafie.

Asked if the party has any issues with Chinese candidates for seats with Chinese majority voters as some of the existing assemblymen had already quit the party for another, he said no.

“I am sure the Chinese voters are mature enough to identify leaders who can work for them,” Shafie said.

Warisan has 14 assemblymen in the 73 state constituencies.
