Man’s body found floating near Sandakan market jetty


KOTA KINABALU: A man’s body was found floating near the Sandakan market jetty on Friday (Jan 17) night.

Sandakan OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek said police arrived at the scene after receiving a call from the public at around 9.30pm.

The victim has been identified as a 35-year-old immigrant who works as a labourer at the fish market near the jetty.

“The body was retrieved and later taken to the Duchess of Kent Hospital for postmortem,” he said in a statement.

ACP Fuad said the case has been classified as sudden death for now as police have found no foul play.

The police have called for witnesses to come forward and assist investigations.
