Over RM4mil in drugs seized, four arrested in JB raids

JOHOR BARU: More than RM4mil worth of drugs have been seized in two raids here, says Johor police chief Comm Datuk M. Kumar.

He said four people, including two foreigners, were also arrested in the raids conducted on Jan 10 and 11.

"The two local men and two Vietnamese women are believed to have been operating the syndicate since October.

"We believe the two men are the heads of the syndicate, and used a gated and guarded apartment unit to run their operation," he said on Friday (Jan 17), adding that the suspects are between 20 and 30 years old.

Comm Kumar said the apartment, rented in the name of one suspect, was used to store and repackage drugs.

"We believe their drug supply comes from a northern state.

"Upon receiving the supply, they would mix it (according to) their own recipe before repackaging it for the local market," he said.

The drugs seized include 23.82kg of ecstasy powder worth RM3.97mil, 266g of ketamine worth RM59,200, and 66 Erimin 5 pills valued at RM1,320.

"We also seized a car worth RM30,000, jewellery worth RM4,859, and cash in ringgit and Singapore dollars," he said, adding that the total value of seized items, including the drugs, came to RM4.076mil.
