Man fined RM5,000 after throwing hammer at Melaka police station

MELAKA: An unemployed man has been fined a total of RM5,000 by the Magistrate's Court here after pleading guilty to two charges of vandalising a police station and his ex-girlfriend's car.

Muhammad Hidayat Burhan, 25, entered his guilty plea after the two charges were read to him before Magistrate Nur Afiqah Radhiah Zainurin on Wednesday (Jan 15).

The court also ordered the accused to serve eight months in prison if he failed to pay the fine.

For the first charge, the accused was accused of vandalism by throwing a hammer at the Tanjung Keling police station and shattering one of its glass panels, resulting in damage estimated at RM2,000.

The offence was committed at the Tanjung Keling police station at 10.10pm on Jan 7.

For the second charge, the accused was accused of vandalism by smashing the window of a car at a house located at Batu 7, Tanjung Minyak, here at 10.30pm on Jan 8.
