Johor floods: Drop in number of evacuees as of 5pm today


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims has dropped to 230 people from 72 families as of 5pm compared to 850 victims from 247 families at noon on Wednesday (Jan 15).

The Johor Disaster Management Committee said that the situations in Johor Baru and Kota Tinggi have also improved, leaving only Kluang and Pontian affected by floods.

“As of 5pm, there are still 230 flood victims from 72 families being placed at three temporary relief centres (PPS).

“The operating PPS are at SK Kampung Melayu Raya in Pontian and SJKC Kahang and Dewan Serbaguna Kahang in Kluang,” it said in a statement.

The victims in Kluang are from Kampung Contoh, while the victims in Pontian are from Kampung Sri Gembut, Kampung Paya Embun, Kampung Sri Menanti, and Kampung Parit Haji Adnan.
