Floods: Johor sees increase in evacuees to 2,625 as of noon Jan 14


JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in Johor has increased slightly to 2,625 people at noon Tuesday (Jan 14) from 2,498 at 8am.

The state disaster management committee said they are from 761 families currently housed at 30 temporary relief centres in four flood-affected districts.

“As of noon, there are 1,322 victims in Kota Tinggi, 716 in Pontian, 534 in Kluang, and 53 in Johor Baru.

“One river has recorded a dangerous level, namely Sungai Endau in Kluang, which has risen 14.6m from its normal level of 14.5m,” it said in a statement.

The committee added that the two relief centres with the most evacuees are SK Laksamana in Kota Tinggi (209) and SJKT Jalan Haji Manan in Kluang (202).
