Running ‘fowl’ of the law: Authorities destroy illegal animal pen in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: An animal enclosure housing fowl and goats in Taman Golden, Jalan Ipoh, was demolished in an operation by City Hall for encroaching on public road reserve land.

During the operation on Friday (Jan 10), the livestock was relocated to the Vector Unit of City Hall's Health and Environment Department for recording and further documentation.

"As a result of the operation, an illegally constructed animal enclosure housing chickens, ducks, and goats was demolished due to violations, including constructing additional structures that obstruct public drains, roads, and pathways.

"These actions were taken under Section 46 of the Street, Drainage, and Building Act 1974," it said in a Facebook post.

The operation was carried out jointly by City Hall, the police, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd, Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation, and Alam Flora Sdn Bhd.

It also warned that City Hall would continue to take action and carry out monitoring from time to time.
