KLANG: It is customary for SJK(C) Pandamaran A to hold events to mark the zodiac signs every Chinese New Year.

For this year, pupils and teachers painstakingly assembled to create a snake formation outlining the digits 2025 to usher in the Year of the Snake.

The school’s board of trustees chairman Datuk Seri Teh Meng Huat said teachers and pupils united to create the formation.

“They practised three times for it,” he said.

Teh said the board wanted every Chinese New Year to be special for the pupils.

“The children usually get a close encounter with the animal representing a particular zodiac sign. As it was not possible to do that with snakes, we opted for the formation instead,” he added.

Teh said to usher in the Year of the Monkey, pupils were taken to Kuala Selangor to see and sketch monkeys there, and for the Year of the Rooster, poultry was brought to the school.

The Chinese zodiac assigns one of 12 animals to each lunar new year. The animals are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.
