MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan supports the proposal by Batu Caves Ayyappa Swami Devasthanam Temple committee chairman Yuvaraja Gurusamy on having a special lane at airports here for Malaysian Hindu devotees on pilgrimage to Sabarimala in Kerala, India, Malaysian Nanban reported.

Saravanan said this after attending the “Irumudi” ceremony at the Batu Caves temple, where pilgrims prepare a sacred cloth bag with their supplies and prayer material, which they carry throughout the pilgrimage.

However, Saravanan said such matters should be brought directly to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim by Indian members of the Cabinet, adding that the proposal could have been discussed during Anwar’s recent visit to India.

Saravanan lamented the lack of Indian leaders in government willing to speak up on the needs of Hindus.

Asked if he would speak to the Prime Minister about this request, Saravanan said while he is currently not in a position to do so, that could change with the blessings of Lord Ayyappa.
