Sabah Pakatan leaders congratulate Musa on appointment as Governor

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Pakatan Harapan leaders have congratulated Tun Musa Aman on becoming the 11th Sabah Yang di-Pertua (TYT) Negeri.

In a joint statement, the leaders also expressed gratitude to the King of Malaysia, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, for his consent to present Musa, a former chief minister, with the instrument of appointment as Sabah Governor.

Musa was also conferred the Seri Maharaja Mangku Negara award, which carries the title "Tun", during the ceremony at Istana Negara.

"Sabah Pakatan wishes the utmost congratulations (to Musa) for this appointment and conferment of this award," they said in a statement on Tuesday (Dec 17).

"We also wish to record our highest gratitude to Tun Juhar Mahiruddin for service as the 10th Sabah TYT," they added.

The statement was jointly issued by Sabah Pakatan chief and Upko president Datuk Ewon Benedick, Sabah PKR chief Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, Sabah DAP chief Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe and Sabah Amanah chairman Lahirul Latigu.

Musa, 73, the longest-serving Sabah chief minister, was appointed as the Sabah Governor according to Article 1 of the Sabah Constitution for four years, effective Jan 1, 2025, until Dec 31, 2028.

He replaces Juhar, appointed to the post on Jan 1, 2011 and whose term expires on Dec 31, 2024.
