Cops nab duo behind motorcycle thefts in Sepang

SEPANG: Police have arrested two suspects believed to be responsible for a spate of motorcycle thefts in the district.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Norhizam Bahaman said the investigation of the duo's crimes began with a report lodged on Thursday (Dec 12).

"A man reported that his motorcycle was stolen from the parking area of a hotel here," he said in a statement on Monday (Dec 16).

He said an investigation led to the arrest of two men in their 20s at Lurah Bilut in Bentong, Pahang at about 11.30pm on Friday (Dec 13) in an operation codenamed Ops Lejang.

"We also seized four motorcycles believed to have been stolen as well as a set of motorcycle keys," he added.

ACP Norhizam said the suspects would steal unlocked motorcycles and bring them to a house in Kampung Labohan, Banting, Selangor.

"They would then sell the stolen motorcycles to fund their shopping and drug habits," he said.

One of the suspects had drug offences on his record, he added.

"The suspects have been remanded for further investigation.

"We believe at least four motorcycle thefts have been solved with the arrests," he said.

ACP Norhizam urged those with information on any criminal activities to contact the Sepang police hotline at 03-87774222, or the nearest police station.
