Woman posing as parcel delivery worker among three nabbed for theft and burglary in Johor


ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police here have made a slew of arrests in separate burglary and theft cases, including a woman posing as a delivery worker.

In the first incident, a 42-year-old woman woke to sounds of her front window breaking in an attempted burglary in Taman Damai Jaya, Skudai.

“The incident started at 4am on Dec 12. She immediately contacted the police,” said Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan.

A police team from Nusa Bestari Police Station, under the Iskandar Puteri District Police Headquarters promptly responded to the call, arriving in 30mins.

“The team arrived at the scene around 4.30am and successfully apprehended two male suspects aged between 22 and 24 years old,” ACP Kumarasan said on Sunday (Dec 15).

He added that initial checks revealed that both suspects had prior criminal and drug-related records, though their preliminary urine tests returned negative for drugs.

The suspects are currently remanded for nine days from Dec 12 to Dec 20, to be investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking with intent to steal.

In a separate case, ACP Kumarasan shared that police received a report at around 12.08am on Dec 11 regarding the theft of parcels belonging to residents of an apartment complex in Iskandar Puteri.

“A local man aged 42 reported the incident, and the police subsequently apprehended a 38-year-old local woman employed as a parcel delivery worker.

“The suspect, who has no prior criminal record, tested negative for drugs in her preliminary urine screening,” he said.

He added that during the arrest, the police confiscated items that were identified as stolen from the parcels.

The suspect is currently under remand for five days, from Dec 12 to Dec 16, investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft in a building.
