SHAH ALAM: Shah Alam Bersatu has called of any plans to dissolve the division following earlier dissatisfaction over the postponement of an assembly to elect a new leadership.
Mohamad Fadzil Ahmad, a division chief candidate, said they decided not to carry on with the dissolution after 75 delegates expressed their support for him to continue leading the division.
"We're not dissolving and will continue the fight after getting delegates' support.
"However, moving forward, we will look at the situation depending on the decision after the postponement (of the assembly)," he said in a press conference on Saturday (Dec 14), reported Sinar Harian.
The assembly to elect the division leadership was supposed to be held on Saturday but it was postponed at the last minute after the Bersatu supreme council issued a letter on Friday (Dec 13) night.
The letter, issued by Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, attributed the postponement to the disciplinary board's ongoing investigation into a commotion during the Nov 2 party elections.
The eleventh-hour postponement appeared to have aroused dissatisfaction among the division's committee members who appeared to be headed for a mass exit.
"The party election committee or the central leadership should have settled their investigations first before issuing the assembly letter.
"We love the party, we ask that legitimate elections are held and not to give victory to certain parties using underhanded methods," said Mohamad Fadzil.
