Man with lengthy criminal record shot dead in Kelantan

PASIR PUTEH: A local man with 24 prior offences on his criminal record was shot dead by police in Jeram Pasu here early Friday (Dec 13) morning.

Kelantan police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the 5.30am shootout occurred while a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team from Kelantan contingent police headquarters trailed the suspect's car from Melor, Kota Baru.

He said the team intercepted and stopped the suspect’s vehicle in Jeram Pasu.

As they approached the car, the suspect got out and opened fire on them, he added.

"The team returned fire, and the suspect was shot dead at the scene.

"Further checks found that the 31-year-old suspect had 17 criminal offences, including gang robbery and firearms, and seven drug-related cases on his record," he told reporters at the scene later. – Bernama
