Gang that hid drugs as packaged drinks busted, RM1mil drugs seized


KLUANG: A drug gang that hid their products in drink packets to deceive the authorities were busted with the arrest of two men and seizure of more than 6.92kg of drugs worth more than RM1mil.

OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said that police detained the duo, both 26, during a raid at a house in Taman Permata here at about 10am on Dec 10.

“They had packaged the ecstasy powder in more than 100 small packets with labels of various drinks such as iced tea, milk tea, apple iced tea and ice lemon tea,” he said, adding that police also seized two vehicles and some cash with total seizures including drugs totalling RM1.11mil.

He added that both men had prior records for drugs and other offences.

“They also tested positive from urine samples for methamphetamine and both men have since been remanded for seven days,” he said, investigations were being carried out under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.

Asked about the mastermind or other gang members still at large, he said investigations were still ongoing.
