IPOH: A 17-year-old girl was among 72 people arrested in separate police raids throughout the Manjung district on Dec 6 that netted over RM150,000 in assorted drugs.
In the first case, police arrested the girl and her 47-year-old male friend at an oil palm plantation in Ayer Tawar at 12.10am for possessing several types of drugs, said Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Hasbullah Abd Rahman.
The man was carrying a bag containing a transparent plastic packet containing what is believed to be heroin weighing 450.9g, and five packets of methamphetamine weighing 103.5g.
“Both suspects were brought to the Manjung police headquarters for further investigations.
“Following the arrests, police raided a house in Kampung Pundut in Lumut, and seized several other types of drugs worth about RM60,357.
“Also seized at the house was a car, a scooter and RM200,” ACP Hasbullah said in a statement yesterday.
He said both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and MOP (marijuana, opiates and phencyclidine) drugs.
The case is investigated under Sections 39B and 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Both suspects have been remanded for seven days to assist the police in identifying other suspects, he added.
In the second case, 70 people including foreigners were arrested for various drug offences at an entertainment centre in Sitiawan, said ACP Hasbullah
The raid was carried out at about 3am at the centre in Taman Sentosa 2 by the Manjung police headquarters Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division, and a team from the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman.
A total of 38 men and 16 women tested positive for drugs and the case is being investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, he added.
“Among those arrested were 13 local men and two foreigners with several types of drugs including cannabis, Ecstasy, Erimin 5 pills, and ketamine on them, and they are being investigated under Sections 39A (1), 12(2) and 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
“Following the arrests, police raided a house in Taman Sentosa 2 and found 31 plastic packets containing powdered MDMA weighing 545g, and Erimin 5 pills worth RM91,125.
“This seizure is being investigated under Section 39B of the Act,” he said adding that all those arrested have been remanded for between three and seven days.
