Search intensifies for missing 69-year-old in Kota Marudu

KOTA KINABALU: A search and rescue mission is on for a 69-year-old man who has gone missing in Sabah’s northern Kota Marudu district since Sunday (Dec 1).

Pencen Gundiar@Pyron had left his home at Kampung Tambun that day but failed to return home, prompting his family to lodge a police report on Tuesday (Dec 3).

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they were subsequently notified by the police over the matter on Saturday (Dec 7).

The spokesman said they were informed that the victim had gone missing at a river.

“The police made an initial search and received information from workers who noticed someone passing through a bridge that was still under construction at the village at 4am on Dec 2,” he said, when contacted.

“We then conducted the search where the victim was last seen,” he added.

The spokesman said the water surface search area covered the Tambun river up to Bandau river.
