P-hailing rider killed after being hit by car at red light


SEPANG: A food delivery man was killed when he was hit by a car driven by a woman at a traffic light intersection in Jalan Taman Emas, Puchong, on Friday (Dec 6).

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Norhizam Bahaman said the incident occurred when the 27-year-old victim, who was riding a motorcycle, was waiting for a red light at the scene.

"Investigations found that at about 12.45 pm, a car driven by a 39-year-old woman was coming from the direction of Putra Perdana towards Sri Aman.

"The car is believed to have lost control before hitting the back of the victim's motorcycle, causing the victim to fall," he said in a statement on Friday.

He said the victim was later confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel.

"Further investigations into the accident are still ongoing.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.

He urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Traffic Investigating Officer Inspector Mohamad Fadzil Zainol Abidin at 019-6488474 or any nearby police station.
