Car belonging to missing man found abandoned in oil plantation

BATU PAHAT: A car belonging to a man who has been missing since Wednesday was found abandoned in an oil palm plantation here.

Batu Pahat OCPD Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the police received a missing person’s report about the 43-year-old man, identified as Edwin Soo Seng Kok, at around 11.38pm on Wednesday (Dec 4).

"His family members lodged the missing person’s report after failing to contact the man, who lives alone, despite multiple attempts.

"The lights, fans, and air conditioner at his house in Taman Bukit Perdana, Batu Pahat, were left on, and his car was missing," he said in a statement on Friday (Dec 6).

ACP Shahrulanuar Mushaddat said the man's car was discovered at about 9am on Thursday (Dec 5) in an oil palm plantation area in Parit Raja.

"Residents in the area where the vehicle was found reported seeing the man walking alone.

"They said he had asked for permission to drink water from a pipe in the yard of a nearby house and was later seen resting briefly before disappearing from the area," he said, adding that efforts to locate the man are still ongoing.

He urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation or contact the Investigating Officer, ASP Maimunah Sujak, at 012-7916895 or any nearby police station.

They can also contact the Johor police hotline at 07-2212999 or the Batu Pahat police headquarters hotline at 07-434399.
