Six-year-old girl injured in JB hit-and-run incident


JOHOR BARU: A six-year-old girl sustained injuries to her shoulder blades and face following a hit-and-run incident here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the accident occurred at around 8pm on Tuesday (Dec 3) when the girl and her uncle were crossing the road at Jalan Susur Larkin Perdana 2 in Larkin.

"The incident came to our attention when a video clip went viral on social media. A car was said to have run into the girl and fled the scene.

"However, the type of vehicle is unknown, and I urge witnesses and members of the public with information to aid us in our investigation," he said in a statement.

He added that the girl is currently being treated at Hospital Sultanah Aminah for her face and shoulder blade injuries.

Asked whether the man and the victim were jaywalking, ACP Raub said the investigation is still ongoing.

The case is being investigated under Rule 41 of the Road Traffic Rules 166/59 for crossing the road carelessly.
